Education Minister seeks people’s support

Imphal, April 4, 2018 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thockchom Radheshyam seeks people support in preserving the infrastructure of the educational institutions. He stressed that the colleges and schools properties are public property belonging to the citizen specially the student fraternity who are studying in the institutions to gain knowledge.

The Minister made the statement at the Presidency College, Motbung while addressing the faculties of the college. On learning about the unwanted incidence happened with the college properties, he said that it is a very unfortunate incident. He appealed to the people to extend full support to the educational institutions and play a crucial role for the betterment of education. He further stressed that creating awareness on the importance of education as it holds the solutions to all the problems of the society.

Th. Radhehsyam also visited and inspected the infrastructural development of the library, girl’s common room and the computer laboratory being taken up in the college under RUSA scheme. He also warned the faculties and the people assign for the construction work to make sure that the quality is maintained. He also persuaded the faculties that if required he will consult with the Engineering Wing of Education.

Lauding the contributions made by the college teachers who have work hard with commitment for the betterment of the students, he emphasised on the need to provide guidance and counselling to the students in regards to their dreams and aims they want to achieve in life. He further stated that the achievement of every individual is a gift from the teachers, of whom the parents are the very first teacher to teach.

The Ministerial team also made a visit at the Motbung Government High School and inspected the hostel located within the premise of the school. The Minister was informed about the plight of the school like the bad infrastructure of the hostel and school building by the Headmistress, teachers and village authority. He assured that all possible help will be extended for the development of the education sector.

Th. Radheshyam was at Motbung, Kangpokpi District to attend a function of Thanksgiving Day of the Educational Training School (ETS) on recognition from the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Christenning of School playground, establish thirty years ago.  Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, he said that the affiliation of the school under the Board was a genuine need of the people which is now been fulfilled by God’s grace.

He said the school is a holy place imparting education to the children. He said Motbung is likea mini India abiding the true essence of unity in diversity inhabited by various communities. The Minister appealed to the people to respect the most important three things in life – the law, religion and old age. He said everyone will grow old one day but making sure that one grows up is more important for a progressive society.

The Founder of the ETS, Sk Lunkam, village authorities, teachers, student, locals and civil organisations attended the function. Memoranda were also submitted to the Minister and highlighted about the requirement of hostel to accommodate students coming from the interiors of the state. The Minister also unveils the ETS Playground to his playground.
