Saving one’s life is top priority: Jayantakumar

IMPHAL, April 7 (DIPR): Health and Family Welfare Minister Shri L. Jayantakumar Singh has said that the Health Department sets saving the life of people as its top priority. Speaking as the Chief Guest at the World Health Day Observation today at Indian Medical Association (IMA) Hall Lamphel Minister Jayantakumar maintained that no one can escape from the jaws of death but the government keeps its top priority to save the life of people. Every people have to enjoy the right to life which is one of the most important fundamental rights. To make our life secure is an essential duty of the government, Minister added.
He also expressed about the need of better health services to the remote areas where the health care facility is poor. He said that the government is trying its best to provide better health facilities to remote areas of the state especially at the interior hilly terrains. He appealed to those who are in the medical profession to keep professional ethics and also to maintain sincerity while serving the public.
The observation of World Health Day, 2018 was jointly organised by the Health Department, Manipur and Indian Medical Association, Manipur Branch under the theme “Universal Health Coverage, Everyone Everywhere”. This Year’s observation also keeps its focus at Healthy Attitude, Healthy Habit, Healthy Lifestyle.
Minister also distributed state and district level awards including commendation awards to the Best District Hospital, Best Sub-Divisional/CHC and PHCs of the state. The award includes cash and citation. Thoubal District Hospital bagged the Best District Hospital Award while CHC Wangoi won the Best Sub-divisional Hospital/CHC award for the year 2017-18. Minister also congratulated the award winners.
The function was also attended by Dr. K. Rajo Singh, Director Health & Family Welfare as president, Prof. Th. Bhimo Singh, MS, RIMS Imphal and Prof. Bhogen Singh Akoijam, president, IMA, MSB as guests of honour. Health officials, doctors, nurses, medical and nursing students and others also attended the function.
