Employees of Agriculture and Horticulture departments demand immediate implementation of 7th central pay

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 19, 2018: Demanding to implement the 7th Pay Commission’s recommendations the employees of Manipur agriculture and horticulture departments on Thursday staged a sit-in at the directorate of agriculture complex, Sajenthong, Imphal.

Both the departments have been in the employee’s cease-work strike since “Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions’ Council and All Manipur Government Employees’ Organisation” launched the strike on March 22.

Loitongbam Sanatomba, general secretary of All Manipur Agriculture Department Employees Welfare Organisation said the employees of the horticulture and agriculture departments as a part of the employees and trade unions joint administrative council have been fully supporting the strike. “We will continue to strike till the central pay is recommended in the state”, said Sanatomba.

The governments of most of the neighbouring north east states including Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, have already announced to implement the 7th central pay recommendations. Why is the government of Manipur unable to announce as in other states, Sanatomba asked.
