Preservation and conservation of water bodies need of the hour: Radheshyam

Imphal, April 30, 2018 (DIPR): Education, Labour & Employment Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam said that the people of the State need to preserve and conserve the water bodies. He stressed that water is one of the basic essentials for human survival besides air, sunlight and food.

Th. Radheshyam was speaking as Chief Guest at the Prize Distribution Ceremony of a Painting Competition on the theme ‘Save Nambul’ organised by the Solidarity of Women and Peace at the Community Hall of Haobam Marak Keisham Leikai. The Nambul River, he added has its own historic significance and the people should render their responsibility to save the river.

He said once upon a time the water bodies specially the rivers flowing through the city of the State has been the means for the transportation of the people from one place to another as a inland waterways. The river today faces severe pollution due to the human’s exploitation of the water bodies. Calling upon the public to avoid throwing of garbage into the river, he emphasised that we as human should act in accordance with one’s principle to save and preserve the water body.

The function was attended by MLA Sekmai A/C Shri Heikham Dingo Singh, Director Art & Culture Shri Ngangom Uttam Singh, Retd. IGP Shri  S . Dinokumar Singh, senir citizens, students, and the guardians.
