“Go to Village” launched

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 1, 2018: Chief minister N. Biren Singh today alunched “Go to Village” mission at at Konuma Ground, Laphupat Tera Komlakhong GGram Panchayat, Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency, Imphal West today.

The mission was launched throughout Manipur in 60 villages of all the 60 assembly constituencies.

Biren Singh said politicians should refrain from doing politics that affects the lives of the people. We shouldn’t give sufferings and pains to the people of the state, he added. The government doesn’t belong to any political party, it belongs to the people and is for the people. The government believes in treating everyone fairly and equally to bring inclusive development in the state, he added.

Every Tuesday has been slotted as a day to visit different villages located in this district to ensure physical involvement of government officials to identify and reach out to the deserving beneficiaries.

Biren Singh said such mission would create an opportunity to build a bright future of the people of the state. Since 1972, there has been democratic elected government, however there has been a minimal positive change in the state, he added. Welfare schemes and benefits meant for the poor and needy people weren’t given systematically for the last many years, he added.

He mentioned that a review meeting would be held next week with all the officials to assess the requirements and data collected from the camps. There are 2515 census villages in the state and the data collection of the requirements of such village would be completed in 11 months. He appealed the people to come forward and gain the benefits being provided under the mission.

While mentioning about the alarming rise of stone cases and Cancer among the people of the chief minister announced that the government would set up a dedicated Cancer hospital and a general hospital to cope such health problems soon. A high end laboratory would be established to examine the causes of such health problems, he added.

On the occasion, Biren distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries under various Departments such as construction of individual household latrines, soil health cards, paddy seeds, weaver cards, sewing machines, CMST cheques, ULBs for implementation of PMAY(Urban) etc. He also inspected various stalls and counters of various departments and banks. He alongwith other dignitaries took part in the tree plantation around the Konuma bround.

Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K. Robindro Singh, chief secretary Dr. J. Suresh Babu, Adhyaksha of Imphal West RK Taruni, DC Imphal West Ningthoujam Geoffrey, HODs of various departments, officials of various banks and ZP members attended the function.
