Maqami Jamiat-Ul-Ulama pleas against drug


Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 12, 2018: Maquami Jamiat-Ul-Ulama has drawn the attention of Manipur chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh and state police department urging to take effective actions to curve the prevailing drug use culture in the state.

Maquami Jamiat-Ul-Ulama today caught seven drug users including a lady who were using drugs under the Minuthong bridge in the heart of Imphal, this morning.

The drug users are identified as Md. Kayamuddin, 28, a resident of Kakwa Marang Louis Ward number 6 Bishnupur, Md Musley,  34, of Yairipok, Imphal East, Lalboy Len Haokip, 28, of Yaingangpokpi, Ukhrul, Md. Sahir, 22, Mayang Imphal in Imphal West, Md.Ajmir, 26, Porompat, Imphal East,  Jenibai Gangte, (female)  30, Moirang Lamkhai, Bishnupur and Md. Zakir Ali, Hatta, Imphal East.

Forty pack pieces of Heroine no.4 and another two small packets of Heroine, two knifes, a pair of long scissors, syringes and needles were found in their possession.

The organisation was formed by religious people to cleanse the social menace of using drug in the locality. The organisation members said they have caught several drug users many times and released after giving advice to stop using drugs.

But it does not work. Today we start handing these youth to their family asking them to take care of them against drugs. Families of four of these drug addicts have responded and received them. The remaining three will be handed over to the Police, said secretary of Maquami Jamiat-Ul-Ulama, Fakruddin.

We are afraid that can kill to satisfy their desire. This will not only kill them, but it will harm the society, he added.
