Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar sworn in as Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 18, 2018: Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar was today sworn in as the 5th Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur.

Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of office at a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Imphal. Justice Sudhakar was appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur by the President of India on May 9.

Sudhakar hails from Panapakkam Village, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. He was graduated in Life Sciences from Loyola College, Chennai and obtained a Law Degree from Madras Law College. Justice Sudhakar was enrolled as an advocate in the year 1983 and started practice as an associate of the Legal Luminary and Senior Advocate Habibullah Badsha, former Advocate General of Tamil Nadu and public prosecutor of Madras High Court.

Justice Sudhakar, was appointed as a Judge of the Madras High Court in 2005 and in 2016, he was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. Later he was appointed as Acting Chief Justice of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Y. Joykumar Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Ksh. Bhabananda Singh, former Chief Minister and opposition leader Okram Ibobi Singh, former Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Cabinet Ministers, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and other senior officials, senior advocates and judges of High Court of Manipur attended the ceremony.
