36 hours total shut down affects normalcy at Sagolmang


Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 19, 2018:  Thirty-six hours total shut down strike imposed by JAC against the Unnatural Shifting of Imphal East District Hospital, has affected the normalcy at Sagolmang, Imphal East and its surrounding places.

The strike also affected Khurai Lamlong Bazar.

Protestors blocked roads by placing wood logs on the road at Sagolmang. Rods were also blocked at Purum Pangal Tabi, Tiger camp, Chingarel Tejpur, Paorabi, Heikakmapal, Lamlai Huidrom  in Imphal East.

Women’s wing of the action commitee, Memethoibi said the foundation stone of district hospital has already laid by the then education minister, L. Jayenntakumar on December 2011, but the present BJP led coalition government shifted the hospital at Kiyamgei.

She said Sagolmang is an appropriate place to construct Imphal East district hospital as it is the mid-point of both hills and valleys. “We will not suspend our agitation until the hospital is constructed at Sagolmang, she added.

One Minpao Hou who is a victim of bandh resident of Churachandpur district said that he was not aware of the strike. He and his associates set out for Khuman Lok, Senapati district for an emergency. They have to reach Khuman Lok on foot. He appealed the state to fulfil the demand.
