Biren appreciates for two City awards

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, May 19, 2018: Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh appreciated the people of Kakching and Mayang Imphal as they bagged awards for ‘Cleanliest City’ and ‘Best City in Citizens’ for NE Zone respectively in the Swachh Survekshan 2018 award.

Altogether, 4203 urban local bodies were assessed under Swachh Survekshan, organised by the ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission. The exercise undertaken between January 4 and March 10 enhanced the scope to cover a record number of urban local bodies impacting around 40 crore urban citizens across length and breadth of the country by 2700 assessors.

Addressing the media at his office, Biren said, “I appreciate people of the these districts as well as officials of the department concerned.”

The on-field survey for Swachh Survekshan has been conducted by an independent agency, including data for ranking of the cities based on the collected reports on service level progress, direct observation and citizens’ feedback.

Best city in ‘Innovation and Best Practices’ in NE Zone was bagged by Biate (Mizoram).

Bishnupur has been declared by the Centre as ‘totally electronic operated district’, the state’s Chief Minister gi Hakshelgi Tengbang scheme got ‘best health scheme’ and Senapati became ‘open defection free district’. This shows that people of the state are keen for development and it also gives a clear picture for their support to the state government, said the chief minister.
