Forest employees press for central pay scale

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 19, 2018: Employees of forest department, head office continue their sit-in demanding implementation of the 7^th Pay Commission’s recommendations.

The employees said employees cover by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions’ Council and All Manipur Government Employees Organisation cannot accept the recent claim of MoU signed between few employees groups and the state government.

It has been blamed that the government invited the JAC for settling the issue without taking back the arrest warrant issued against its members while some of its leaders have been arrested.

The Manipur Secretariat Service Association, Manipur Government Services Federation and Manipur State Pensioners’ Union inked an agreement with the government under which employees will get the new pay scale with effect from April 1, 2019.

The agreement says the Seventh Pay Commission benefits with allowances at pre-revised rate will be deposited in general provident fund accounts for the period April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020 and benefits with revised allowances will be paid in cash with effect from April 1, 2020.

The employees of the forest department said the agreement is not accepted by majority of the members of the Manipur Secretariat Service Association and Manipur Government Services Federation.
