ADC chairman nabbed with drugs worth over Rs 27 crore

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, June 20, 2018: Autonomous District Council (ADC) chairman of Chandel district, Lhukhoser Zou has been arrested by Narcotic and Affairs of Border (NAB) police and Imphal West district police on Tuesday midnight with seven persons along with drugs that would worth over Rs. 27 crore in the international market.

The team seized Heroine number 4 weighing 4.595 Kg and World is Yours (WY) Amphetamine tablets weighing 28 kg that would worth about Rs 13,78,50,000 and Rs. 14 crore respectively. A sum of Rs. 57, 18,000 was also seized in cash.

The ADC chairman, also known as Shesei Zou, 51, of Phaicham Veng, Moreh ward no. 2, Chandel, is currently staying at the government quarter at Lamphel in Imphal West.

The ADC chairman and associates were arrested during a lengthy operation which was launched on Tuesday early evening that lasted till last midnight.

The combined team initially arrested the driver of the ADC chairman, Thangminlun Zou, 30, from whom two suitcases full of heroine powder was recovered.

Following his disclosure, the combined police raided the official quarter of the ADC chairman after midnight led by additional SP, Th. Brinda and recovered two lakh numbers of WY tablets, said the NAB officials.

The team also recovered assorted items including Rs 13,03,300 in cash, arms and ammunitions, one 0.32 NPB Pistol with 21 live rounds, one SBBL Rifle with two gun license during the raid.

The other six persons who were arrested in connection with the drug haul have been identified as Esther Vungheinuam, 22 (F), Mung Zou Aric,19, Teresa Ngaite Nengboi, 54 (F) Lawrence Zou, 50 , Minlal Mate, 22, Sio Jamthang Mate and
Mt Jamkhohao, 28, PRO of the ADC chairman.

“The investigation is in its initial stage and we will find out who else are involved in the case”, said DIG Intelligence, Themthing Ngashanva.
