Students’ forum pulls back shut down strike, stages light demonstration

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 26, 2018: Joint College Students’ Forum has withdrawn its shut down strike imposed in all the colleges affiliated to Manipur University demanding to declare graduate semester exams.

Supporting the varsity community in the demand for ouster of vice-chancellor Pandey the students’ forum staged a candle light demonstration crafted “Go Back A.P. Pandey” in front of Kangla gate.

The college strike was withdrawn as assurance by education minister Th. Radheshyam, in a meeting held today, to declare college exam results by second week of August.

The students’ forum launched indefinite shut down of colleges on July 12.

The exam results have been pending due to the varsity impasse as the varsity community takes up agitation demanding ouster of vice-chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey.

Convenor of the students’ forum, A.Vikash said the minister has assured us to declare the 6th semester exam by second week of August.

If the solutions to the problems created by irresponsible vice-chancellor are not solved in three days we will take up agitations and we are for it, said Vikash.

“We will also support the agitation of MUSU and we will not allow an irresponsible person to be the vice-chancellor of Manipur University,” he added.
