Opium worth Rs 24 .52 lakh recovered

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, July 29, 2018:  Somsai Battalion of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) seized 32.700 kg Opium worth Rs. 24.52 lakh packed in 31 packets from Mahindra Bolero GLX silver colour bearing registration number MN 02B 4368  along national highway 202 at Assam Rifles Check Post, Lambui, Ukhrul district.

One Thangkhohao Haokip son of Douthang Haokip resident of  TA – S Gamnomjang, Churachandpur district was apprehended along with the stores. The Opium was well concealed in hidden compartments inside the vehicle. The packets were recovered after undertaking thorough and expert search. The individual have been handed over to Shangshak Police station for further investigation, said a release by Assam Rifles.
