Kuki Inpi shut down strike paralysed border trade

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 8, 2018: Twenty-four hours total shut down strike imposed by Kuki Inpi Manipur and its frontal organisations in Kuki inhabited areas of Manipur has paralysed border trade at Moreh in Tengnoupal district.
It has widely affected normalcy in kuki inhabited areas of Manipur.
The strike has and cut off connectivity between Imphal and districts of Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Tengnoupal .
Large Bandh supporters at Moreh blocked roads burning tyres and placing poles on the roads.
Forour vehicles has been reportedly vandalised by strike supporters at Kangpokpi.
The strike was also supported by Kuki Students’ Organisation began on Wednesday at 6 am.
It was taken up in protest allegedly against government’s indifferent attitude and apathy towards the hundreds of Kuki who were killed during the Kuki genocide of 1992 to 1997, allegedly perpetrated by NSCN (I-M) and its cahoots.
The organisation also said not an inch of Kuki land can be affected by any of the resolutions adopted in the ongoing peace talk between NSCN (I-M) and the central government.
Kuki Inpi alleged that the central government is only trying to appease the NSCN (I-M) and fails to say anything against the militant’s barbaric slaughtering of a large number of Kukis during the Kuki genocide.
It demands justice for the victims as well as befitting punishment for the culprits involved, the chairman also demanded settlement of the criminal acts of NSCN (I-M) before the finalisation of the Naga Framework Agreement.
