Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 9, 2018: Youth of various ethnic groups in their traditional costumes today marched a rally from Meitei Mayek High School, Kongba till Standard College, Kongba on the ocassionof ‘International Day of the World Indigenous People’, organised by Socialists Students’ Union of Manipur (SSUM), Proletariat Feminists’ Movement Manipur, Socialists Women’ Association and Manipur Proletariat Peoples’ Democratic Union.
SSUM president, N. Sanahal said outsiders are trying to break the relationship among the different ethnic groups and communities of the state since the past so that the state can be totally kept under their control.
He said as the political leaders have drowned in the ocean of corruption, the outsiders are slowly overtaking the state and have resulted to an imbalance demographic structure.
It order to save the indigenous people of the different ethnic groups of the state, we need to be united and stands against the corrupted leaders of the state, added Sanahal.
Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur chairman L. Mahendra said though each section claimed superiority of one’s religion or tradition we need to respect others communities as we all belong to human race.
He appealed to all the ethnic groups of the state to respect each other and be united.
The day was also observed at Tuisenphai village participated by various ethnic groups of Manipur.
It was organised by Tuisenphai village authority, Centre for Research and Advocacy, Manipur, Youth Forum for Protection for Human Rights and Youth Action Committee for Protection of Indigenous Peoples.
