Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 14, 2018: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has alleged the BJP led government for mocking the members of the House as it ‘fails’ to notify for the special session of Manipur state assembly scheduled on August 16.

MPCC spokesperson Kh. Joykishan said besides deceiving people with false promises the BJP led government has arrived at the position of cheating the MLAs. He was talking to reporters at Congress Bhavan today.

There have been pressures from sections of the society specially form the opposition party congress. Congress walked out of the House on July 20, the first day of the two-day long Monsoon Session for not extending assembly to required days to discuss issues.

“The government remained silent after announcing to conduct state assembly on August 10 which was later postponed to August 16. People are expecting for House resolutions on various issue. Today is August 14, we haven’t got assembly notification. Tomorrow is Independence Day. When the will the notification be issued? Why it is not issued?” Joykishan asked.

There will be inconveniences as all the MLAs do not reside in Imphal. The MLAs from far away constituencies came and stationed in Imphal for the assembly which was scheduled to be conducted on August 10. However it was postponed and this time we have not been served notice for the rescheduled assembly session, alleged the MPCC spokesperson.

Civil society organisations had been criticising the government for not talking a resolution in the house against the possible extension of Article 371 (A) to Manipur. They have served ultimatum the Congress to raise voice in the House to resolve against it. This shows that people of Manipur have lost faith to BJP, said Joykishan.

“The government is afraid of Congress, expecting questions from us on issues that would not be answerable by the ruling legislatures”, “If the government has the guts the assembly session must be immediately conducted to resolve issues in the interest of the people. If not the members in the government will be regarded as cowards who only cares for their position/portfolios,” he added.

Our chief minister had earlier said that there is possibility for him to resign from his position. There is something upsetting him by the framework agreement and thus must be expressed clearly so that we could chalk out the problem that is upsetting him. Chief minister is the leader of the people and everyone is ready to support him for his brave decision for the cause of the state, said the MPCC spokesperson.

The MPCC also alleged that the recent visit of a central team led by Surveyor General of India Girish Kumar at Kawtha Khunnou along the Indo-Mynamar border on July 25 over Borddr pillar 81 issue was not an attempt to survey over the border dispute claimed from various sections. “It should be properly discussed and resolved in the state Assembly,” said MPCC spokesperson Hareshwar Goswami.

MLA Akoijam Mirabai said Congress does not remain silent on the Manipur University impasse issue, the framework agreement and the border pillar issue. Congress will take up movement together with the people as the government fails to take resolutions on the issues.
