JCILPS students’ wing shut down NIT, Manipur

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 18, 2018: Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) students’ wing today locked Nation Institute of Technology, Manipur opposing against conducting of interviews for recruitment of 22 faculties of the institute in Kolkata.

The JCILPS students’ wing of Manipur has been demanding that the National Institute of Technology, Manipur authorities conduct the interviews here instead of in Calcutta.

The interview for the recruitment was scheduled to be held on August 18 and 19 at Hotel Gateway in Calcutta.

A memorandum was submitted on Thursday to the director, NIT Manipur, to immediately postpone the interview and conduct it here.

Manjit Sarangthem, the convenor of the youth wing said the interview has begun as against our appeal to the director, NIT, Manipur to conduct the interview in Imphal. It is deterioration of the rights of Manipur people.

He said the recruitment is meant for NIT, Manipur, so the recruitment interview, should be conducted in Imphal itself where the permanent centre is located.

Manjit said the interview which is carrying out outside the state is to practice corruption and irregularities in the recruitment. “The interview should be cancelled immediately and reschedule to conduct in Manipur, if not, we will take up severe forms of agitations,” he added.
