Socialist students caution agitation

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 29, 2018: Socialist Students’ Union of Manipur (SSUM) has cautioned  to launch a month long mass protest against gifting away Manipur land to Myanmar by the Centre.

General secretary of the student body Bhushan Longjam today said it is very unfortunate that the BJP led government is not deeply concerned about the loss of Manipur land to Myanmar.

He said the state government remains silent despite the statement of the government at the Parliament that there is no issue to the Border Pillar No. 81 in the Indo-Maynamr Border after a survey team submitted a report at the Centre.

The BJP government is disregard for the public by staying silent till date even when the survey team of India claimed that there is no such loss of land in the state, Bhushan said.

People of Manipur does not have know about the 1967 agreement signed between India and Myanmar government, however it is high time for the BJP led state government to protest against such agreement to save the territorial integrity of the state rather than staying as a silent spectator.

SSUM along with the public and other organizations is all set to launch various form of agitation from September 3 till October 8.
