Panchayat woman member nabbed with drugs

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, August 31, 2018: Imphal East Police today apprehended a woman member of Gram Panchayat with World is Yours tablets from her resident at Khergao Yumkhaibam Makha Leikai, Imphal East.

She was identified as Thoibi Moinam, 44, member of Kshetrigao Gram Panchayat. She was apprehended with her son Md. Lakidur, 20, and his stepsister Rubani Buya, 26.

They were apprehended when his team conducted a cordoned search operation at Khergao today morning, said ASP M. Kumarjit.

As soon as we nab Thoibi we took her to the police station. She is panchayat member and a hardcore drug peddler. She, her husband and her family members are hugely involved in drug racket. We are also tracking for some more drug traffickers, he added.

During the operation a total of 512 people including 351 males and 161 females were verified out of which 22 people including 7 females and 15 males which included 7 non-locals without proper antecedents were picked up and handed over to Porompat Police for proper verification.

The three alleged drug peddlers were apprehended along with one blue polythene packet which was found concealing under a flower pot inside the bed room of Rubani, containing 150 numbers of WY-Tablets in it. The arrested persons along with the seized articles are handed over to Porompat Police station for taking up necessary legal action(s).
