Manipur got apparel supply offer from Mauritius: Biren

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, September 5, 2018: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Wednesday said Manipur has received apparel supply offer from Mauritius during his inspection at the three manufacturing units of Apparel and Garment Making Centre, Lamboikhongnangkhong in Imphal West district.
He said ever since these private companies started manufacturing apparels in coordination with the state government, a Mauritian company had inquired the state government whether it can supply 1 lakh pieces of different apparels per month.
The building and machinery of Unit-1 of the government-owned centre is currently utilised by Big Concepts Foundation Pvt. Ltd and Unit-3 by Ningthibee Collections for high quality apparel production.
He was assessing means to enhance production in the light of this offer, Biren said. Stating that it was his second visit to the Centre Biren said the state government is planning to sign a memorandum of understanding with the two local private companies within a week to work together in this regard in PPP model.
Trainers from Delhi would train around 1000 youths of the State to start large scale production of apparels, he said while adding that the Centre have machineries for around 350 workers.
Biren was accompanied by textiles, commerce and idustries minister Th. Biswajit, among others.
