Pothashang News Service: Imphal, September 6, 2018: CPI Manipur state council today demanded the state government to install highway protection force in Manipur following the assault of a Manipur musical team led by members of All Manipur Students’ Union at Nungba Bazar on September 3.
It also demanded to book and punish the miscreants at the earliest.
State secretary CPI, L. Sotin Kumar speaking to media persons at its office chamber said the open assault to Manipur team some self-proclaimed NSCN-IM cadres while the state is facing a big threat to the integrity with the proposed extension of Article 371 (A) of the Framework Agreement clearly shows NSCN-IM’s thirst to carry out its wish in various forms within Manipur territory.
Sotin Kumar said state government should enforce its rule of law and counter such crimes as the ceasefire agreement between NSCN-IM and government of India is not applicable in the state and should take up necessary actions or issue advisory against NSCN-IM to refrain from any activities, which violate the ground rules of the agreement, instead of making statement that will not solve the issue or any problem, he added.
CPI is ready to carry out various campaign and movement along with different political parties until and unless highway protection force is installed as well as befitting punishment is awarded to the culprits, Sotin Kumar said.
