CM Biren wants MU crisis settled

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, September 8, 2018: Manipur government is pursuing with the HRD ministry to act as per the terms of the memorandum of agreement signed between the Manipur University community and the HRD ministry with the Manipur government to conduct enquiry over vice-chancellor Adya Prasad Pandey.

Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh made the statement during a news conference at his office today. He said the agreement was signed in front of him. It was signed on August 16.

He appealed to stop spreading false information regarding the varsity crisis over demand of ouster of the vice-chancellor.

“As Manipur University is a central university Manipur government cannot issue any order regarding the varsity. That is why the memorandum was signed,” said the chief minister.

MLAs H. Dingo and Th. Satyabrata, Department of Municipal Administration, Housing & Urban Development  (MAHUD) secretary M. Joy and MAHUD director N. Gitkumar were also present at the press conference.
