Drug lovers caught

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, Sept. 10, 2018: Volunteers of Anti Drug Joint Committee (ADJC has today caught drug peddlers and users from Sangakpam Bazar, Chingmeirong Lei Ingkhol and Paomei Colony during a drive conducted this morning.
Two female drug peddler and six users including a 16 year old boy were caught with drugs.
The two drug peddlers were identified as Ngangbam Kamla, 38, wife of Ng. Mangal of Sangakpam Bazar and Wangkheimayum Jamuna, 40, wife of W. Tomba of Paomei Colony.
The drug users have been identified as Laishram Bejesh, 32, son of (L) Laishram Rame of Wango Chuthek Leikai; David Kamei, 45, son of (L) Adum Kamei of Tarung Neikailong; Konjengbam Sanjoy, 38, son of K. Hera of Lei Ingkhol Chingkhong Leikai; Mangsidam Sundar, 27, son of M. Hera Singh of Leihingkhol, Kairang and Akoijam Nana, 25, son of (L) Ak. Sham of Mongsangei Mayai Leikai, presently residing at Laipham Khunou Mamang Leikai.
The arrested duos were tonsured by the volunteers. They were later sent to rehab centres and police after settling with the family members.
The committee formed by three locality members of the surrounding of Kairang, Khumidok and Khabeisoi area has become stronger with the joining of Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Imphal-East, Women Society Paomei Colony, Sangakpam Bazar Meira Paibi Lup and Laipham Khunou Meira Paibi Lup as members.
The joint committee said the campaign for anti-drug drive will continue until drugs and alcohols are rooted out from the state.
It appeals the concern to set up the rehab centre, which Manipur chief minister has already approved, at the earliest so that the drug peddlers and users can be recapitalized to bring them into a normal life free from drugs.
It appealed all sections of society to extend cooperation to ADJC.
On the other hand, condemning the brutal killing of 26-year old Pukhrihongbam Memi from Ekou Bazar and extending its solidarity to the JAC formed, the joint committee demands to award befitting punishment or dead punishment to the culprits who carried out the heinous crime by the authorities concerned at the earliest.
