Manipur government to launch PradhanMantri Jan ArogyaYojana

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, September 21, 2018: Manipur government is all set to launch PradhanMantri Jan ArogyaYojana, PM-JAY, a special health scheme for the poor, said Health and family welfare minister L. Jayantakumar Singh today.

Talking to reporters at his office the minister said chief minister N. Biren Singh will formally launch the health scheme for the poor on the September 23 in Imphal. The programme will be launched nationwide by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day.

Jayantakumar said introduction of the new scheme will be a landmark in the health sector of the country. He said needy people who are eligible to get the benefit under the new scheme will be entitled to for free treatment in the government and empanelled private hospitals. The scheme will now cover free medical insurance up to rupees five lakhs.

Around thirty numbers of Health and Wellness Centres have been opened in Imphal West, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Chandel districts with the objective to promote public health and their wellbeing. Free diagnostic centres have also been opened in order to ensure free laboratory and diagnostic test facilities.
