1st North East Olympic Games in Manipur gets boosted by Karate Contribution of Rs 2 Lakhs

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, September 27, 2018: The Manipur Olympic Association has decided to host twelve disciplines in the 1st North East Olympic Games 2018 at Imphal from October 24-28.
The event to be competed are Athletic, Archery, Badminton, Boxing, Judo, Karate, Football, Rifle Shooting, Taekwondo, Table Tennis, Weight Lifting and Wushu.
The North East Council has already sanctioned Rs 20 lakhs for the event, but so far only Rs 15 lakhs has been released. As per the organising committee estimate, they need atleast Rs 70 lakhs for the successful hosting of the event.
However, the good news is that Shihan Likhatara who is the president of Karate Association of Arunachal Pradesh and also the President of the North East States Karate Federation of India has contributed a sum of Rs 2 lakhs for the event.
Manipur Olympic Association president and Education Minister Th.Radheshyam Singh will be the Chairman of the Organising Committee while MOA secretary Sunil Elangbam as organising secretary. The meeting also appoint MOA senior vice president GA Ibopishak Sharma as Chairman of the Game Technical Conduct Committee.
Various sub-committees were also formed including Transport, Accomodation, Catering, Reception etc. Chief Minister N.Biren Singh is Chief Patron of the event.
It was learnt that the game will held every two years on rotational basis among the eight states of the region including Sikkim. However in case, a state is unable to host the meet, the option will be opened to remaining states who wish to host it.
