Biren bats to uplift minorities

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, October 2, 2018: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh said that the present government would give its priority to uplift the minorities and weaker sections of the society. This was stated by him at the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the All Manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association held at Hotel Imphal, North AOC Imphal today.

The chief minister announced that a sum of Rs. 2 crore has been earmarked in the state budget for the construction of Women’s Market at Lilong. The government would also construct Model schools in Minority concentrated areas of the state, he added. A Sadbhavana Mandap would also be constructed at Lilong, he added.

 The chief minister said politics is not to create division and to break the cordial relationship among various communities but to bring inclusive development and harmony in the state. The government is committed to deliver good governance at the grassroots, he added. Until there is no inclusive development in the state, there won’t be peace and harmony in the state, he added. He mentioned that the present government is action oriented and has initiated various practical activities and the people would witness visible changes in the state soon. He stated that we need to find out the root causes and solution to the various anti-social activities happening in the state.

He said the present government does not discriminate anyone on the basis of religion, caste, community etc. recently the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi has launched a healthcare scheme “Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana- Ayushman Bharat”. Such scheme would provide health assurance to around 50 crore Indians who are enlisted in SECC 2011 data, who will be given up to Rs 5 lakh cover per year, he added. He urged the people to avail the benefits of various schemes initiated by the state and central government.

 He also launched the website of AMPWA and scheme for skill development programme for youths and widows. A souvenir titled “AMPWA: The Journey of 25 years” was also released during the function.
