KKL opposes construction of the Ras Leela dance hall inside Kangla

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, Oct 12, 2018: Kangla Kanba Lup (KKL) has appealed the state government to stop the ongoing construction of the “Ras Leela Dance Hall of Hindu religion” at the religious land inside Kangla.

A press statement released by KKL publicity secretary Irengbam Teirenthaba stated that KKL will never accept the state government intention to construct “Ras Leela Dance Hall of Hindu religion” inside the sacred Kangla land while the state facing so many problems like the Framework Agreement, Citizenship Amendment Bill, Border Pillar 81 etc.

Although the “Ras Leela” began since the rule of Maharaja Bheigyachandra, the than-king of Manipur, no “Ras Leela” was and has never been played by any kings of Manipur inside the sacred Kangla till date? The statement added.

The statement also states that erecting “Ras Leela” dance hall within the boundaries of the sacred Kangla is definitely an encroachment of religious land of the state and is against the will of the people of the state and KKL will never accept it.
