Hmar Students Association warns not to shift Pherzawl district headquarter

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 2, 2018: Hmar students Association has cautioned not to shift the Pherzawl district headquarter saying that it has learned from a reliable source that there is an attempt to shift the district headquarters office of Pherzawl district from Pherzawl village to some other sub-divisional headquarters.

A press statement by the student body said the authorities concerned have been approached by some individuals and organizations with vested interest, with an excuse that the required infrastructure are not available at Pherzawl village.

The student body said it takes the issue very seriously, objects and condemns the act in the strongest terms.

It said it is ever ready to counter the alleged attempt to derail the proper functioning and development of Pherzawl district headquarters tooth and nail.

It claims that Pherzawl district is not meant for a particular tribe. The district was created for the benefits of all those living in the area, it added.

The Hmar student body also appealed to the district administration to take heed of the desire of the people of Pherzawl district to see the offices functioning at their proper places and the staff diligently attending offices. It urged the government not to play around with the development of the district to derail the development of offices in designated headquarters in Pherzawl district.
