Shillong man and Manipur woman win Mega Marathon Manipur

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 4, 2018: More than 3000 runners including 80 from North East states took part in the 12^th edition of Mega Marathon Manipur that was flagged off by minister Th. Shyamkuma at Khuman Lampak main stadium, Imphal.

The Mega Marathon Manipur is a calendar event organised by United Peoples’ Front (UPF) Manipur under the auspices of Athletic Association of Manipur.

RK Ranendrajit, Mega Marathom Manipur chief patron and W. Second, UPF, Manipur president also joined the minister flagging off the marathon.

The Marathon is being organised under the theme Run for Your Nation.

In men’s category an athlete from Shillong – Shanker Man Thapa won the first position. He completed the 22 km stretch in 1:03.06 hours. Shanker Man Thapa is from 58 GTC Happy Valley Shillong of Meghalaya and he came all the way to Imphal to join the Mega Marathon.

Second position was bagged by LR.Lulher of Senapati district.and the third position was bagged by Khaidem Roshan of Terakhongsangbi .

In the women’s category Nongthongbam Chaoba of Luwangsangbam cover the

distance in 1:24.47 hours to top all other competitors. Tayenjam Russia of Ngairangbam and Sagolsem Premila of Yairipok Kekru bagged the second and third position respectively.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at Main stadium with Manipur Speaker Yumnam Khemchand as chief guest.
