Chief Minister announces 10 lakhs for Mandakini

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 6, 2018: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh has today announced a cash reward of Rs. 10 lakhs to Mandakini Takhellambam for her outstanding performance in Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma reality show.
He met the announcement while he interacted with a group of media at his secretariat.
He expressed pride and happiness to the performance of renowned singer despite being visually impaired.
He said Rs. 10 lakhs would be rewarded to her by the state government in recognition of her talent and hard work.
He also greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba festivals.
The chief minister wished that the festival of lights Diwali may strengthen brotherhood in the state. He also prayed to the Almighty to bless the people of different communities to live together with unity.
The chief minister also extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
He said Ningol Chakkouba is no more a festival of Meitei/Meetei community alone. Observing that the noble ideals of the festival are now acknowledged by everybody in the world, the Chief Minister said that it is now celebrated by different communities together leaving aside all the differences. Biren wished that the festival may usher in prosperity and happiness in people’s lives.
Biren also said it is encouraging to see that some civil society organisations have been celebrating the festival with diverse communities and different sections of people since the past few decades. He also wished the CSOs for a grand and successful celebration this year as well.
Further speaking to media persons, the chief minister informed that blacktopping of Singnat-Sinzawl road (NH-102B), which connects Churachandpur with Mizoram, is now almost complete. On the other hand, he also said that the central government had given clearance to laying of gas pipeline from Silchar to Imphal to ensure disturbance-free supply of gas from Assam to the state. Survey works for the said project would begin as soon as possible, he added.
