Blast inside Assembly campus injures three security personnel

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 16, 2018: Two state police personnel and one BSF jawan were injured in a hand grenade blast inside the Manipur Legislative Assembly complex, Imphal, near the complex gate at around 5: 55 pm.

The blast took place while the security measure has been gearing up in the run up to the Manipur Sangai Festival 2018 that would begin on November 21.

According to police, the hand grenade is highly suspected to be hurled from the western side road of the Assembly complex which leads to Cheiraoching (a hill).

The injured state police personnel were identified as Yambem Johny from Charangpat Mamang Leikai and Maibam Manoranjan from Nambol Sabal Leikai, and the BSF jawan was identified as R.P. Mishra from Madhya Pradesh.

They were rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences hospital.

Manoranjan got injuries on his left arm, Johny on his left ears and Mishra on both his thighs.

Minutes after the blast checking and frisking were conducted immediately in the surrounding areas and localities of the Assembly complex.

High ranking officers of state police and central forces including DGP Manipur, L.M. Khaute inspected the blast site.
