Manipur CM reviews security measures

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 16, 2018: Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh on Thursday reviewed the security scenario at his secretariat in the run up to the Manipur Sangai Festival 2018.

The meeting was attended by Director General of Police, IGP Zone IL, IGP Zone I, DIG Intelligence, senior officials of Home Department, Brigadier Anil Chauhan, Commander 26 Sector Pallel, Colonel Nectar, CO 11 AR Moreh, Colonel Anil Joshi, representative of IGAR South, Deputy Commissioners of Tengnoupal and Chandel, and Superintendents of Police of Tengnoupal, Chandel, Imphal East and Imphal West.

Biren instructed the security establishments to restrict the number of checkpoints along the Imphal-Moreh Road in Tengnoupal district to one or two. He also gave strong instructions that there should be no harassment to travellers along the national highway while undertaking security measures.

Due courtesy and hospitality should be offered to foreign as well as domestic tourists.

By December, new security equipment will be in place which will minimise the time for security checks, thereby enhancing the comfort of travellers and making commerce along the highway easier and smoother.
