Protest against blast at Assembly gate

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 17, 2018: Manipur Speaker Y. Khemchand and staff of Manipur State Legislative Assembly secretariat today staged a sit-in at the gate of the Assembly complex protesting against the grenade attack that injured three security personnel.

Two grenades landed at the gate inside the Assembly campus on Friday evening. One of them exploded and hurt two police personal and a BSF Jawan.

 “I strongly condemned the attack at Assembly gate 2 at dusk. It was happened while the state is gearing up for the Sangai festival that will be participated by international delegates.”

“What is message of the blast” when human race is longing for peace. “Exploding a bomb, at this complex of the temple of democracy, is an act of terrorism, said the Speaker.

He said there were no security lapses. The state security are tracing for the culprits, he added.

The blast took place just a day after Manipur chief minister N. Biren Singh reviewed the security scenario with high ranking security officers at his secretariat in the run up to the Manipur Sangai Festival 2018 that would begin on November 21.

Security measures have been strengthened in Imphal and in different parts of the state as a part of the preventive measures of the Sangai festival.
