Exotic Birds sell in Sangai Festival

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 28, 2018: In a shameful incident, one of the stalls in Manipur Sangai Festival 2018 at Hapta Kangjeibung was found selling exotic birds today. While visiting stalls at Hapta Kangjeibung today, this reporter came across a stall selling the birds brazenly.

When inquired, the stall owner said for a pair of bird the price is Rs. 650 and Rs. 500 for the cage so one has to pay Rs. 1150/- for buying the birds. The stall owner did not answer further queries.

Many visitors in festival expressed disappointment over the selling of birds in such a festival organised to promote tourism, culture and tradition of the state. In the initial days of the festival, this particular stall was owned by a different owner with different items displayed. However, today it was found selling the birds.
