AMSU protests against citizenship bill

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, November 30: Joining the one day North east wide protest against the citizenship amendment bill, 2016 a protest was organised in the state hosted by All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) at DM college campus today.
AMSU president, Manjit Sarangthem said chief ministers and ministers of north east state have been raising voice against implementation of citizenship amendment bill 2016 whereas ministers and MLAs of Manipur remains silent. The silence indicates that they are giving priority on taking the consent of the central government instead of raising voice against the bill, he added.
If citizen amendment bill, 2016 is implemented in north eastern state indigenous people of north east will get huge impact. As the region lies at the international boundary, it would become a dumping site for foreigners including illegal migrants, said Manjit.
Students of the region will continue to fight against the bill, he added.
