Shiv Sena Manipur appeals long term policy

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 7, 2018: Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit President, M. Tombi Singh expressed the need to form a long term policy to meet the needs of the hill districts people to stop cutting down of trees.

He made the appeal during the launch of newly form Shiv Sena Thoubal District Committee at the party office at Babhupara, Imphal West, today.

M. Tombi said, Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit and different district committee will focus mainly at social woks and social activities for the welfare of the public and the state.

He said, since the ecological balance of the environment has been disturbed due to the mass deforestation in the state especially in the hill areas, Shiv Sena Manipur Unit will carry out various mission to plant trees under the theme “Go Green Manipur” to bring back the ecological balance maintain by our forefathers.

Saying that as winter season sets in most of the hill people cut down trees to produce charcoal and they cut down bamboos to produce bamboo shoots, etc. to earn their living, he appealed the state government to come up with a long term policy from which they can earn their living through another means of the policy.

M. Tombi also said, Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit and its district committee will conduct tree plantation programs at Moreh on December 10 and 11 as continuation of the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) Swach Bharat National Cleanliness Mission conducted at Jiribam.

He also appealed the people to plant trees in-order to save from deteriorating the environment and also to maintain the ecological balance.

Shiv Sena Manipur appreciated the initiative taken up and the cabinet decision of the state government to open a police outpost at Holenphai, near Moreh in Indo-Myanmar Border, Tombi asserted.

Among the nine appointed persons of Shiv Sena Thoubal District committee Sanasam Mejen Singh was selected as district president of the committee.
