Imphal Book Fair underway


Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 15, 2018: ‘Imphal Book Fair 2018’  was launched today at Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground, Imphal in presence of Manipur deputy chief minister Y. Joykumar and consumer affairs, food and public distribution minister Karam Shyam.

The 10-day annual book was organised by State Central Library, dept of art and culture with the support of Raja  RamMohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata under ministry of culture.

Joykumar said,  I m very much interested in such fair and I m going to purchage some books too. The books in the fair has everything, it’s a store house of knowledge, which won’t be found elsewhere. It has everything about art and ancient culture.

Saying that book is a very good companion the minister asked the youth of the state to develop reading habit.
Shyam stressed out the important of passing Manipur Public Library Act, 1988 to bring a library movement in the state.

He said passing a Bill will help develop a separate state directorate of library with separate funds.
About 70 stalls including 29 from outside the state are opened.
