Muslim organisation condemns attack at Wakf Board

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 17, 2018: Condemning the recent attacks at the office of the Manipur Wakf Board, leaders of the Manipur Muslim organisations demands the state government to take up immediate action and award befitting punishment to the culprits at the earliest.

The leaders also demanded clarification over the use of abusing and slang words to the girl hostellers of Muslim Girls Hostel, Minuthong Hafiz Hatta, Imphal by the culprits.

In a news conference held at Manipur Press club, president All Manipur Muslim Organisations Co-Ordinating Committee (AMMCOC) SM Jalal said the attacks and ransack of important documents and items of Manipur Wakf Board as well as threatening of the girl hostellers of the Muslim Girls Hostel, Minuthong Hafiz Hitta, Imphal on December 14 evening as unfortunate.

We strongly condemn it and take the incident seriously, he added.

He appeals the family members or any responsible persons of those culprits behind to make a public apology at the earliest, failure will hold them responsible in any incident occur in the near future.

Appreciating and welcoming the state government decision and initiatives to set up a multi-sector market complex for the minority community of the state, Jalal appeals not to give any disturbance by any persons in personal interest and stop from this moment if they are planning to do so which can hinders the development work.

If any act against, various civil society and Manipur Muslim will not remain silent, Jalal asserts.

Advocate Rabi Khan, secretary Human Rights Council,  Manipur said, the attacks and the actions against the office of the Manipur Wakf Board and also using of slang words to the girl hostellers by some self claimed members and office bearers of Minuthong Social Welfare Union, Haifz Hatta, Imphal is strongly condemned.

He said the girl hostellers who are here to study and go for further and higher education for their career is now frighten since the incident which is very unfortunate for these Muslim girl students.

Rabi said, the rights, property, Meitei-Pangal OBC quota, etc. practice by the Manipur Muslim cannot be snatched away by unclean and fake Muslim impersonator and these impersonator try to indulge and spoil Manipur Muslim community, they will not remain as a silent spectator and appeals the state government to intervene in these matter.

Rabi further appeals to construct the multi-sector market complex at the Manipur Wakf Board premises at the earliest.
