Security beefed up in Imphal ahead of Modi’s visit

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, December 31, 2018: In continuation of the precautionary measures being taken up by state security forces in connection with the Prime Minister Narendra Modis’ visit to Manipur on January cordoned and search operations were conducted in different parts of  Imphal.

The search operations were conducted at Pong Lambi Kongpal Kongkham Leikai in Imphal East, near Sangai continental,  Hodam Leirak to Keishampat Junction, Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai, Kwakeithel Takhel Leikai and Kwakeithel Haorak Chanbi and at Masjid road in Imphal West.

At Kongpal 110 women and 211 men were checked and four persons were picked up for further verification.

In the search operation near Sangai continental around 97 persons were checked and among them 7 persons were picked up for not carrying their Identity cards and relevant documents. They were handed over to city police station for further verification

At Hodam Leirak to Keishampat Junction about 130 houses, rents and shops were checked and occupants numbering about 350 were verified. No one was picked up.

At Kwakeithel Soibam Leikai, Kwakeithel Takhel Leikai and Kwakeithel Haorak Chanbi around 200 were searched and around 450 persons were verified. No one was detained during the operation.

In the search operation at Masjid road around 219 persons were checked and among them 15 persons were picked up for not carrying their proper identification documents.
