Large quantity WY, heroine and brown sugar seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 19, 2019: Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South)recovered a huge cache of drugs containing 12000 numbers of World is Yours (WIY) tablets, 96 gram of Heroin and 1.644 kg of brown sugar from Permanent Vehicle Check Post Khudengthabi yesterday.

The recovery came in continuation of back to back recoveries of contraband drugs and day after the recovery of weapons of foreign origin by the Tengnoupal Battalion.

A statement released today by the Assam Rifles said acting on specific information regarding the transportation of drugs, a team of Tengnoupal Battalion, stopped a Maruti Brezza vehicle travelling from Moreh to Shillong for checking at Khudengthabi check at 5:30 pm. The team diligently checked the vehicle and recovered the naarcotic items duly concealed inside the vehicle.

The driver a resident of Kangpokpi, Senapati district confessed to the illegal carriage of contraband drugs. The driver, contraband drugs and vehicle are handed over to Anti Smuggling Unit, Custom Division Imphal, the statement added.

Assam Rifles is resolute to prevent smuggling of Narcotics contraband items through the area of responsibility and subsequently to prevent youth of country from digressing on the path of drug abuse, Assam Rifles claimed.
