Mass protest against Citizenship Bill

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 20,2019: Organised by Manipuri Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD), Socialists’ Students’ Union Manipur, Reformists Student Front, All Meitei Pangal Students’ Union Manipur and All Manipur Muslim Students’ Organisation staged a sit-in at New Market of Khwairamband Bazar here where the women vendors (refraining from vending) participated.

Police stopped them when they tried to march a rally on the street.

Vice-president of MSAD Furakan Makakmayum said, “The NE region is for the people here and not for the foreigners. The chief minister should press the Centre to withdraw the bill.”

Besides the protest at the market about 25 protest rallies were organised in different parts of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur and Thoubal districts
