People conventions calls for “Mass-civil resistance movement” against Citizenship bill

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 20,2019: A people convention held at Manipur University today has called for a united struggle for “Mass-civil resistance movement” against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019.

The convention has demanded for immediate withdrawal of the bill and resolved to appeal to all Rajya Sabha MPs to oppose the bill. It demanded a special Manipur Assembly session on or before January 30 to oppose the bill.

It called for a united struggle for “Mass-civil resistance movement” among the political parties, civil society organisations and people of Manipur as well as North East India until the demands are met.

All Manipur Students, Union, Manipur Students’ Federation, Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur, Kangleipak Students’ Association, Students’ Union of Kangleipak and Apunba Irreipakki Maheirosing Singpanglup with various representatives of civil society organisations and people took part in the convention.
