Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 21, 2019: The major worry for all the football lovers of the state, it seems, is almost solved as the long-pending imbroglio between All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) and some major football clubs has been solved said a government release.
With the strong initiative from the youth affairs and sports minister Letpao Haokip, an understanding has been reached between the AMFA and the six clubs who had been on a stand-off with AMFA. A case was being battled in court between these two sides, said the release.
However, all seems well now as an agreement and understanding is being reached at the minister’s table with both sides present on November 1 last year. As an outcome, the famed CC Meet and the state League events will resume in the near future, it added.
Letpao appealed all the sports bodies and sports lovers of the state to not play politics in the field of sports and let this incident be the last of ugly incidents in the sports history of Manipur. He said that such incidents also lower the morale of the upcoming players. He added that sports is one of those few rare fields that have been instrumental in introducing the state to the rest of the world and hence, should be kept straight and far from politics.
The minister stated that the next edition of CC Meet, one of the biggest football events, will most likely begin from the coming mid of February.
The minister also congratulated the Under-19 women’s football team of the state who had become champion in the just concluded Khelo India Youth Games 2019 that was held at Maharashtra. He also congratulated the gold medal winners of other individual events in the said games, said the release.
