Security beefed up for smooth Republic Day celebration

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 22, 2019: Manipur police today conducted search operations in different parts of Imphal East and Imphal West to ensure smooth law and order situation as the Republic Day approaches.

Imphal East district conducted cordon and search operations in Ahallup Mayai Leikai. In the operation,  634 person (258 females and 378 males) are verified. Among them eight males and one female having doubtful identity proof documents were picked up and handed over  to Heingang Police station for further verification.

In a house to house search operation conducted at shantipur, Keirao constituency in Imphal East nine persons were pick up and handed over to Irilbung Police station for taking  further necessary action.

Imphal West Commando conducted cordon and search operation at Paona bazar area(Mahabir to Ibohal cycle, MPP to Leima shopping and Governor road).During operation 543 persons were verified n out which 21 persons who failed to bring out any identification documents were detained n handed over to city police.

Imphal West Commando also conducted another surprise cordon and search operation at Nagamapal area (Hindu hotel to Jalal both side).During operation 456 persons were verified and out of which 17 persons who failed to bring proper identification documents were detained n handed over to city police.
