Security beefed up ahead of Republic Day

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, January 25, 2019: Security has been beefed up in Imphal to ensure smooth functioning of the Republic Day Celebration.

A team of Imphal West police and its commando conducted cordon and search operation at Waheng Leikai to Keisampat Thokchom Leikai stretch, Jiribam Parking and Maharani Bridge between 7:15 am to 8:15 am.

Altogether 515 persons were verified where 24 persons who fail to provide identification proof were pickup and detained at City Police for further verification.

Search operation was also conducted by a team of Imphal East police at Hatta Golapati to KR Lane stretch from 5 am to 7:15 am. Altogether 1055 persons including 382 women were verified where 68 persons including 8 women who fail to provide identification proof were pick up and detained at Porompat Police station for further verification.
