Narcotics worth Rs 2.2 crores seized

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, February 6, 2019: Tengnoupal Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) apprehended one narcotics smuggler carrying 1.1 Kg Brown Sugar worth approximately Rs 2.2 crores from Permanent Vehicle Check Post (PVCP), Khudengthabi.

Yesterday, based on specific input from a reliable sources, a team of Tengnoupal Batallion AR stopped a silver colour Maruti Omini Van, bearing registration No MN 01 G 6522 travelling from Moreh to Imphal at PVCP, Khudengthabi. On carrying out a thorough check of the vehicle, orange coloured please substance suspected to be Brown Sugar of approximately 1.1 Kg were found hidden inside a fabricated compartment above the fuel tank in the chassis. Apprehendee identified himself as Lunkhomang Haokip, age 26 years, residence of Moldennom Village, Chakpikarong Sub Division, Chandel District. Recovered items along with the apprehendee were handed over NCB Imphal, said Assam Rifles.
