41st National Junior Boys handball championship 2019 kicks off

Imphal, 20 February, 2019 (DIPR): The 41st National Junior Boys Handball Championship 2019 kicked off today at the Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal. The Championship will conclude on 25th February and is being organised by the Manipur Handball Association under the aegis of the Handball Federation of India.
Around 500 boys from 28 states and 2 Sports Academy are participating in the Championship. Apart from the home team Manipur, players from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Khasmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, West Bengal, union territories of Chandigrah, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Delhi, Puducherry, Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Bhilai Academy are participating in the championship.
Speaking as the chief guest of the opening function, Forest and Environment Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar hoped that the championship will further strengthen the sense of national integration in the country. He further hoped that the championship will help in strengthening the team spirit among the participants and bring peace and prosperity in the country.
Shri L. Susindro Meitei, Chairman, LDA/MSPDCL welcomed the participants and lauded the organising committee of the championship for organising the event at Imphal. He further asked the organisers to inform in case of any requirement.
Dr. S Ranjan Singh, Chairman, Tourism Corporation of Manipur Ltd, Shri Anandeshwar Pandey, Secretary General, Handball Federation of India, Treasurer, Indian Olympic Association, members of the Manipur Handball Association, coaches and players attended the opening function.
