Forum demands reschedule of MPSC exam

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 3, 2019: Civil engineering forum Manipur has urged to reschedule Manipur Public Service (MPSC) Examinations starting from general studies and general English on ground suspicion of question leakage and appealed not to schedule recruiting examination near the ensuing Lok Sabha  election.

Civil Engineering Forum Manipur president Khangembam Lenin, who is also a candidate of section officer examination, during a press conference held today at Manipur Press Club, said recruitment done under MPSC examination is one of the highest recruitment examination conducted in the state. But the forum has been urging to reschedule the whole examination from the beginning as there is suspicion of question leakage, he added.

He said on March 24 examination of general studies and general English has been conducted at various examination centres. During the examination the question paper were distributed in loose sheet printed on A4 paper unlike the procedure of past examination conducted by the commission. The candidates complained the issue to the invigilators but they were told that they are invigilators candidates have to complain to the commission, he added.

While the candidates were sitting for technical paper I of civil engineering on February 26 the question were distributed by combining with paper I and II whereas paper II falls on February 28, he added.

In the instruction of answer sheet the candidates were instructed to appear the examination without using calculator though question which required calculator were included, Lenin said.

As the complaint reached commssion’s chairman of the commission, he (chairman) himself came to the examination hall and told the candidates that the examination will continue with a separate question paper. In the new question paper some questions were found in hand written without printing proper allocated marks. From that moment the candidates stormed out from the examination hall with a suspicion of question leakage and demanded to reschedule the said examination, he added.

In the evening a notification was published on commission’s website which stated that the commission has cancelled the on-going examination including the paper II examination. The notification also stated to hold the examination on fresh date which will be notified by February 28. Whereas examination for IT and Electrical Engineering papers will be conducted as schedule, said Lenin.

On February 28 the commission released a notification in connection with the issue which states that examination for section officers in respect with civil engineering will be scheduled in the second half of March. It also stated that the exact dates and time of the examination will be notified after confirming the availability of second examination centres, he added.

Candidates demand to reschedule examinations of all papees in a fresh date. If the commission fails to reschedule the examinations and conduct the examination forcibly, the forum will take legal action, Lenin warned.
