AR conducts anti-drug campaign

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, March 13, 2019: Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted an Anti Drug Campaign for Drug Free Manipur today
In response to the concerns of the villagers, parents and Meria Paibis during the monthly security meet, Tulihal Battalion planned and conducted an Anti Drug Campaign aimed at educating the youth and children of its area of responsibility. As part of the campaign, the Battalion organised an interactive lecture on Drug Abuse and No Smoking at Unique Golden Cradle School, Awang Khunou.
The lecture gave an insight to the young children about the ill effect of drugs on human body and various measures to counter the drug menace. The lecture witnessed the participation of over 700 students and teachers.
In another event, Mantripukhri Battalion organised Anti Drug lecture cum rally at Don Bosco School, Chingmeirong. The lecture was conducted at the school to enlighten and to generate awareness about the ill effects of drugs among the youth and to guide them to lead a healthy and prosperous life. The lecture was followed by an anti drug rally which started from Don Bosco school and covered the areas surrounding the school and back. Over 360 students and teachers participated in the lecture cum rally. The campaign was a success in educating the students on this sensitive issue and various measures to counter the drug menace.
The students and the school authorities expressed profound gratitude for regularly organising such awareness campaigns and appreciated the efforts and commitment of Assam Rifles to the cause of making Manipur a drug free state, a statement by Assam Rifles said.
