Kishorechandra reunites with family

Pothashang News Service: Imphal, April 10, 2019: Kishorechandra Wangkhem, a journalist who was detained under National Security Act, was released from Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa today.
A special bench of High Court of Manipur on April 8 directed to release Kishorchandra.
He appreciatioed the civil society organisations, students bodies, lawyers and media fraternity for their efforts made for releasing him.
He said he had realised of using abusive words in the video that was posted on November 20 last on his facebook wall.
Saying that he was quite emotional and abused the stance of chief minister, N. Biren regarding a function organised in regard to Rani of Jhansi being linked with the freedom movement of Manipur, Kishorchandra begged for forgiveness from the people.
Kishorchandra Wankhem filed his petition through his counsel on December 19 and prayed the court to quash his detention order.
Kishochandra was arrested on November 20 last for posting his video recording. But the chief judicial magistrate released him on November 26 stating that the words, terms and gesture used by the accused in the video is mere expression of opinion against the public conduct of public figure in a street language.
However on November 27 last he was picked up from his residence by police and detained him under the NSA.
On December 14 last the state government approved the detention of Kishorechandra under the NSA.
